Common questions

Can I get falsetto yet?
Not yet. It’s coming to iPhone, iPad and Android first, then to Mac, Windows and Linux. See all platforms.
If I buy it on one device, do I have it on the others?
Buying on iPhone or iPad will include the Mac version, when it arrives. Android, Windows and Linux are separate purchases, because falsetto has no accounts, so there’s nothing that could carry a purchase from one store to another.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No. falsetto has no accounts, and all of its analysis happens on your device. On Android it doesn’t even have permission to use the internet.
Where are my recordings kept?
Only on your device. Saving a take keeps its measurements. Keeping its audio as well is a setting, off by default. Nothing is uploaded, and on phones and tablets it’s left out of your device’s backups, so uninstalling falsetto or changing phones removes it for good. Settings shows what falsetto has stored and where. A recording leaves your device only if you share it yourself, with Share clip.
I said no to the microphone. How do I turn it on?
falsetto asks for the microphone the first time you press Record. If it’s off, falsetto says so and shows an Open Settings button. On Android, choose Permissions, then Microphone, then Allow. On iPhone and iPad, turn on Microphone.
Android says falsetto needs a newer Android System WebView.
falsetto draws its window with Android System WebView, the part of Android that shows web content in apps, and it needs version 111 or newer. Update Android System WebView from Google Play, then open falsetto again.
Why did my recording stop on its own?
falsetto never records in the background, so a take stops if you leave the app, lock the screen or take a call. It also stops if headphones or a headset are disconnected, if the microphone stops responding, if your device runs low on memory, or when a take reaches its maximum length: 30 minutes, or less on a phone with little memory. Everything captured up to then is kept, and falsetto says which of these happened.
Why are my readings different on another phone or in another room?
The microphone, the device and the room all change the numbers. To compare takes, record them the same way: the same device, the same spot and the same phrase.
I have a new phone. Can I bring my saved sessions?
No. falsetto keeps your sessions out of backups and device-to-device transfer, so nothing leaves your old phone. Your purchase does carry over: install falsetto on the new phone with the same Apple or Google account.
Is falsetto a voice changer?
No. It doesn’t change how your voice sounds. It measures your voice and shows you the numbers.
How do I turn on the daily reminder?
On iPhone, iPad and Android, open Settings and, under Daily reminder, turn on Remind me to practice and pick a time. falsetto asks to send notifications then, and not before. The reminder doesn’t come on a day you’ve already practiced. Your device schedules it, so it works without the internet.
How do I get a refund?
Through the store you bought falsetto from, since the store takes the payment: Apple’s Report a Problem page, or Google Play’s refund policies.
How do I delete everything?
In Settings, choose Delete everything stored. It removes every saved session and its audio, your settings, practice days, game bests and diagnostics at once.
Does falsetto tell me whether my voice sounds right?
No. It measures your voice and shows you the numbers. The games count things like how long you hold a note you picked. Nothing in falsetto rates how your voice sounds.
Is falsetto a medical device?
No. It’s a measuring tool for voice training. It doesn’t diagnose or treat anything.
